UPDATE

Since my last update there has been quite a few changes happening in the AMH Group / Ssangyong setup. Apparently overnight and without much ado the Ssangyong brand name was taken over by another well known brand company. I will not be implicating this company as they were NOT involved with this fiasco from the start.

What I do want to mention however is the fact that since the vehicle was fixed the last time by Ssangyong w.r.t. the gear lever not shifting out of park without using an override function. The same problem surfaced again about two months ago. I contacted the "wonderful" Ssangyong dealer again with my problem to ask them to repair the issue again. I was in no uncertain terms informed that they are no longer interested in assisting me as they are no longer Ssangyong "dealers".

I was told to contact the current "dealers" that has accepted and taken over the Ssangyong brand to deal with the problem.

Now, bear in mind that when Ssangyong "fixed" the gear issue the previous time it was a three day job for which the gear lever assembly had to be ordered (taken from another vehicle on the floor) and it had to be fitted to resolve the problem.

When I took the vehicle to the "new" dealers, lo and behold, it took them one day (and only because the part in question had to be fetched from 80 km away) and it cost me only R150.00 for the little part. It turned out to be a solenoid switch that works on the brake pedal which in turn controls a plethora of functions, including the gear shift, cruise control, brake lights etc. No need for a complete gear lever assembly costing most probably R4000.00 plus.

No wonder I am battling through this fiasco with a bunch of morons on the other end of the equation.

The saga continues and I am still adamant in having the matter settled in court although it may cost me an arm and a leg, I feel that it is a matter of principle that these corporates must realise that they can not keep on misleading us and treating us like dirt and get away with it without consequences.

Have a great one and keep your chin up.......

Long Overdue

I know, I know, It's been too long since I last posted any progress on this matter.

So sorry, but it is not all my fault. This fiasco as I like to call the interaction between myself and the Absolute Minimum Help Group has now reached new heights.

Since my last post I have been having endless problems with the vehicle and it just never seem to stop i.e. radio and amp being stolen from the vehicle whilst it was with Ssangyong Bryanston for repairs over December 2011 (which they at least had the decency to replace at their cost), bad workmanship by the Ssangyong Bryanston workshop whilst working on the vehicle whereby they broke the NEWLY fitted radio trim without telling me about it, faulty electric window winder, noisy differential, rattles and much much more.

They ordered a replacement differential and after making arrangements and putting myself in an difficult position by not having a vehicle for 3 days, they phoned me after the third day to inform me that the replacement diff they ordered was the wrong part. Now, what I do not understand is, why did it take them 2 and a half days to figure this out and, why was all the other issues not fixed in the interim while the vehicle was with them.

When I got the vehicle back after this fiasco, NOTHING, was done to the vehicle and I am still driving around with a noisy differential and all the other small issues that was supposed to be fixed.

Therefore I have now started legal proceedings against AMH Group and the Financial institution who's vehicle this is (still under finance) as they are just as guilty for not adhering to my plea for help and subjecting me to this farce.

I will keep you updated as the matter progresses and hopefully these Corporate bullies will get what's coming to them.

UPDATE 30 JULY 2013

The differential was replaced in the meantime, but the gearbox lever getting stuck in Park intermittently has still not been resolved.

In the meantime the engine have also started with a noise (sounds like noisy tappets). Of course it makes sense because the warranty have just expired................

I have now come to the point where I no longer have the time or patience to deal with these third world tactics deployed by AMH Group and they will have to bear the consequences.

SIMILAR SSANGYONG ISSUES

Welcome back fellow Ssangyonger's.

Can I be so bold as to inquire if there are any Ssangyong owners out there that are experiencing a similar lack of interest from AMH Group / Sangyong with regards to problems they have with their vehicles.

What gets me is the fact that 3 (three) years down the line I am no closer to a resolution with the dud vehicle that I was sold by Ssangyong Bryanston.

I would like to hear from each and every one of you so that we can compare our experiences and maybe by doing so, we could get to some or other conclusion as to how they (AMH Group) are getting away with it.

Whereas the rest of the motoring industry are really trying their best to prevent just this kind of bad publicity.

Please post comments and/or contact me via my blog if you have some interesting issues to share with regards to the above.

UPDATE

Dear All

Just an update on the recent ivolutions with regards to my SsangYong saga.

On the 30 May 2011 I again took my vehicle to SsangYong to repair the rattling bonnet, the upholstery, the gear engaging issue etc. It is now exactly 4 weeks later and I am still waiting for my vehicle.

Apparently the re-doing of the upholstery has taken 3.5 weeks. Hopefully they have done a very good job. I will be posting photo's of the work done shortly.

I have contacted SsangYong a couple of times in the past two weeks or so because I need my vehicle urgently due to the fact t hat I have to move my caravan (work purposes) and the loaner that they gave me do not have towing facilities.

I am now in dire straits because I am not able to move and my employer is starting to get very annoyed with me because of all my excuses with regards to the vehicle that I do not have.

I am now at my wits end with this whole issue and do not know what to do and where to go from here.

Any suggestions from my fellow SsangYong'ers........

SsangYong Kyron another problem

Hi All

And the saga continues. This morning when I started the Kyron, low and behold, the central door locking mechanism went haywire. When I switch of the vehicle, the central locking mechanism just keeps on locking and unlocking for some time, then it stops as as quickly as it started.

Ja, what can I say. We'll see at the next service what they say. That is to say if I can find a date and time that will suit me for the service to be done.

Usually when I phone to make a booking (normally a week in advance) ALL of the dealers are fully booked for at least a week after the date I require.

Now, logic dictates that if I book a week in advance, I have a fairly good idea that my vehicle kilometers will be within the required limits for a service. Obviously if I can now only take the vehicle in another week later, the kilometers will be over the allowed limit.

I am then very brightly informed that they can do nothing about that and take it or leave it.

Very professional, these AMH Group employees.................

Till next time

Have a SsangYong day....

SsangYong Kyron fiasco

I would like to apologize for the lengthy post, but it is well worth the read if you have been done in by motor dealerships.
In June 2010 I bought myself a SsangYong Kyron as the SsangYong Rexton (which I actually wanted) was a bit beyond my capacity.

On the very first day in June 2010 that I went to fetch the vehicle from the dealer I found that the vehicle would not accelerate and was only running at a set revolution and speed (Remember the vehicle was sold to me as new with 6700 km on the clock). I immediately contacted the dealer and informed them of the problem. The next day arrangements was made to collect the vehicle for repairs. I got the vehicle back a week later and they assured me that it was fixed.

In the meantime the driver seat lumbar support lever also broke (without good reason as I NEVER used it since I got the vehicle).

The front Park Distance Control (Fitted by a SsangYong approved fitment center) was also faulty when the vehicle was used in rainy conditions, or after the vehicle was washed.

During December 2010 we went on Holiday to Belville in the Cape, and lo and behold, whilst there the vehicle did exactly the same again. I took it to the dealer in Tygervalley and the workshop manager there informed me that it is a part that would need replacement. Unfortunately they did not have the part in stock and by the time that it would arrive after they ordered it I would already be back in Johannesburg after the holiday. At one stage the vehicle also did not want to start and I had to get  a emergency service unit out to get the vehicle started. Till today I still do NOT know why this happened or what the cause was.

About the beginning of February 2011 whilst I was utilizing the vehicle again, hundreds of kilometers from the closest so-called SsangYong dealer, the vehicle did exactly the same as the previous two times - no revs and limited speed - which I have now come to learn is a so-called "Safe Mode".

After numerous emails and harsh communication between myself and the Associated Motor Holdings Group who represents brands like Kia, SsangYong, Dihatsu, Hyundai, Renault etc, I eventually got a SsangYong dealer to respond. By this time I am no longer interested in this vehicle and also contacted MFC to ask that the finance be re-called and the vehicle returned to AMH Group.

The dealer then had my vehicle from the 27 February 2011 until end of March 2011 - one full month -  to try and resolve all the issues with the vehicle, including now also the rear Park Distance Control that was working erratically.

When I got the vehicle back at the end of March 2011 I found that it had now obtained numerous rattles and when changing from Park to Drive (Automatic) the gearbox had a delay of about 2 to 3 seconds before engaging drive gear.

Upon taking the vehicle to SsangYong for it's 50,000 km service I mentioned these issues to them, and guess what, they told me after the service that there was no rattles to be found and that the gearbox issue was normal....ha, ha!!

I have had it with the shitty service this company  Absolute Minimum Help Group is rendering to it's customers, the backbone, because if we didn't buy this crap they would NOT exist.

People, believe me when I say, we as the consumers are fighting a losing battle against the big companies as they are running the show in all aspects.

MFC just ignored my request and here I am still paying for a vehicle which is apt to break down any moment and I will have to deal with it.

I would love MFC to investigate why I have payed nearly R400,000.00 for a vehicle on which I currently owe about R360,000.00, and when I wanted to trade it in on another vehicle, SsangYong would only offer me 160,000.00. Shows that they have NO trust in the vehicle either.

If you have read this blog, you have most probably seen my vehicle on the road with the yellow wording on it.

If you have had similar problems with ANY dealers out there, contact me via this blog or email me at margro at shisas dot co dot za, or alternatively post a comment on this blog and let's take on the "Imperialist's".
